New member here, first post. I used the Google-fu and no luck. We're shopping for another Ecoboost. We owned a 16' brand new before and test drove a new 18' yesterday as well. One we're interested in is a used 16' with almost 30k miles. The turbo didn't sound right. Once you get about 5 psi you start hearing inside the passenger compartment what sounds like the system venting off boost. It's not the normal pop you would get when letting off the gas, more of a steady flow of excess wind noise. As soon as you let off the gas, it goes away. The boost also peaks right near 16psi. Wife's original16' she said would 18psi. We parked it and revved it in nuetral to see if we could hear it again, but couldn't over the normal engine noise. We popped the hood, everything looks factory. The 18' we drove had similar turbo sound but was greatly subdued. On a 1-10 scale it's a 2 compared to an 8. The 18' also had more pep and a more positive "pop" when the bov let's out the pressure. Does this seem normal, or is there potentially some issues that need resolving? Any idea what could cause the difference? spoke to the dealership and told them about our concerns and the car should be in their shop this morning getting looked at, but as always, don't take a dealerships word unless it's in writing.
Also I'm including a pic of the stereo. What the **** is this thing? Is it factory? How much to replace if need be? Is it junk? I couldn't find it online. If it breaks my fear is it's pricey as **** and has essential car functions tied into it. Personally I don't care for it, but the cars for my wife.
