So I figured the best place to start when looking for S550 Mustang Pricing in the UK would be to start with its blood rival the Camaro. Chevrolet UK lists the Camaro with an entry level MSRP of £35,320, but we do have to consider that Chevrolet UK only retails the 6.2L V8 equipped Camaro. However the MSRP of 35K is relatively consistent with th US V8 MSRP of $33,355.
As for Mustang, in the US the EcoBoost 2.3L Engine will be a premium option on the V6 model, so using that logic coupled with the price structure of US Camaro vs UK Camaro we can crudely estimate the final MSRP figure for the S550 EcoBoost Mustang in the UK. Considering the US spec V6 Mustang starts at $22,510, plus a standard $2,500 EcoBoost Surcharge you get an even $25,000.
So as for UK, I think Ford will be kicking themselves if the retail the EcoBoost Mustang for over £30,000. In fact even £30,000 is too much when you consider that the A5 Coupe begins at £28,845 and the BMW 4 series begins at £29,420. If Ford really wants the Mustang to be a dominant vehicle in Europe they need to undercut the vaunted competitors on price and over deliver in terms of enjoyment and dynamics.
Do you think it can be done?
