just look how cluttered vehicle design has become in the last 40-50 years. Essentially the same starting line on the '70 and the '15 yet look how simple and elegant the 70 is (despite its skull bashing temperament) compared to all the juts and cuts on the '15...

There are some parts of the '70 Mustang that are more simple and streamlined, but other parts of it are not. The shutters or blinds on the back are not really simple at all.

I don't think that it is as drastic of a difference as you seem to make it out to be.
