To celebrate the Mustang’s 50 year anniversary, the company has announced the 2015 Ford Mustang GT 50 Year Limited Edition model that will come standard with nearly every available option. So much so in fact that customers will only have to choose the vehicle’s color (Wimbledon White or Kona Blue) and a manual or automatic transmission. The special edition Mustang GT will be available at dealerships starting fall 2014 and will be limited to just 1,964 units.

Based on the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback with the performance pack, the model was designed to provide customers with outstanding performance with a unique appearance. Drawing inspiration from the classic Mustang designs of the past are chrome bezels surrounding the base of the three tail light blades, while the limited edition model will be the only 2015 Mustang to come with a large faux gas cap badge on the rear fascia, with 50 Years added to the GT designation.
Another design element that will be exclusive to the model is the louvered rear-quarter windows. Inside, an aluminum trim panel will span the double-brow instrument panel, receiving an axel spin finish that’s different from other 2015 Mustang models. A special serialized 50 Year Limited Edition badge will be placed on the passenger side, and the same logo will also be stitched into the seat backs. It will also be the only Mustang with a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats.
The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine with over 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Every 50 Year Limited Edition model comes with the performance pack that includes six-piston Brembo front brakes and 19-inch wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tires.
“When Mustang was approved for development more than 50 years ago, I don’t think anyone imagined it would spawn such a dedicated base of fans around the world and still be in production today,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “We are thrilled to be here in New York – where Mustang was first shown to the public at the 1964 World’s Fair – to re-create that historic event for today’s Mustang enthusiasts.”
No pricing on the 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition was announced.
