My buddy bought it used.
He lost a race to a 392 Challenger by a fender, and wanted more power.
That's when things started going south.
We replaced the turbo with an upgraded stock turbo. we then found out that the coolant passage was leaking coolant into the engine. then the head floated from too much boost on stock head bolts.
replaced the head gasket and threw on some ARP head studs.
then he kept slipping timing. The first two times timing slipped he got lucky. The third time it bent all the intake valves. So replaced all the intake valves.
He finally got to get out and drive it. then it started smoking profusely.
Now it is back in the shop getting major heart surgery. Tore it down the replace the valve seals and have the crank cut for the keyway. Only to find out that the #4 piston is missing some of the ringlands.
so the block is off at the machine shop getting bored out, and the crank is off getting cut.
