After reading this forum; I found the "Active Noise Control" mic in the map light panel and simply unplugged it. A few seconds of testing with it unplugged and no engine rumbling through the subs. A quick re-connect brought back the rumble. FOUND IT!

This is fantastic news! I pulled the map light panel down on my 2015 Ecoboost convertible but could not figure out how to pull the plug on what I think is the mic (there is a red and black wire going into a small black box separate than all the other wires). I'd cut a wire but I need to be sure this is really the mic.

Does anyone have any pics, videos, or additional help that can provide me some insight on how to either unplug the wire or give me confidence I've got the right thing??? Thanks so much!

Thanks to y'all for finding and sharing those YouTube videos. I just unplugged my mike, and I like the way it sounds, not so tinny or fake. I don't care about super stereo systems, I just want my car to sound real, and now it does.

Update on this topic

A couple of months ago, I read somewhere that there is not just one, but two mics that are part of the active noise cancellation. Most of us have only disconnected the one located under the headliner. There is another one located inside the map light box, but this mic seems to be important for other functions as well, so I guess it should not be disconnected.

I decided to use FORSCAN to deactivate the active noise cancellation (ACM module 727-01-01). By doing this, the ANC is completely disabled. The sound of the MBRP Race Exhausts is much, MUCH better now. Drone never bothered me, as I wanted a loud exhaust system, but without the ANC it's now more quiet inside the cabin and the sound of the exhausts is a "raw", pure growl.

Also - and this is not simply my idea - the sound system sounds definitely better.

I suggest that you give it a try, it's worth it. To avoid buying an expensive Bluetooth or WiFi adapter for use with FORSCAN, you can buy a USB adapter such as the one I bought on Ebay. It works perfectly with FORSCAN, as it can read and write HS and MS-CAN modules:

If I'm not mistaken that mic in the map light, at least on the coupe version, is for the Bluetooth and entertainment/HVAC system control. Can you still use your voice to control the entertainment system after disabling the mic in the map light area?

Yeah, everything works perfectly. It only disables the ANC.

Okay if that's the case, where IS the mic for the Bluetooth and entertainment/HVAC controls?

They are exactly where you describe. Forscan simply disables the ANC, it has nothing to do with the function of the bluetooth or the entertainment/HVAC controls. Disabling the ANC with Forscan doesn't affect them at all

DOH! I completely misunderstood your initial post. So you're just disabling the ANC in the tune, no need to disconnect any of the mics. Wonder why Cobb and the other aftermarket tuners haven't included this in their offerings, or do they and I'm just not that observant. Wouldn't be the first time! LOL!

That's a good question, UM. Has anybody asked Cobb about that? Maybe if a bunch of us start asking for it, they'll make it happen. Anybody else have a Cobb tune?
