Venting boost? Excessive noise.

New member here, first post. I used the Google-fu and no luck. We're shopping for another Ecoboost. We owned a 16' brand new before and test drove a new 18' yesterday as well. One we're interested in is a used 16' with almost 30k miles. The turbo didn't sound right. Once you get about 5 psi you start hearing inside the passenger compartment what sounds like the system venting off boost. It's not the normal pop you would get when letting off the gas, more of a steady flow of excess wind noise. As soon as you let off the gas, it goes away. The boost also peaks right near 16psi. Wife's original16' she said would 18psi. We parked it and revved it in nuetral to see if we could hear it again, but couldn't over the normal engine noise. We popped the hood, everything looks factory. The 18' we drove had similar turbo sound but was greatly subdued. On a 1-10 scale it's a 2 compared to an 8. The 18' also had more pep and a more positive "pop" when the bov let's out the pressure. Does this seem normal, or is there potentially some issues that need resolving? Any idea what could cause the difference? spoke to the dealership and told them about our concerns and the car should be in their shop this morning getting looked at, but as always, don't take a dealerships word unless it's in writing.
Also I'm including a pic of the stereo. What the **** is this thing? Is it factory? How much to replace if need be? Is it junk? I couldn't find it online. If it breaks my fear is it's pricey as **** and has essential car functions tied into it. Personally I don't care for it, but the cars for my wife.

I didn't realize a word rhyming with well would be auto censored. Apologies if I did a no-no.

First off welcome to the forums Merman!

Does the car in question have CAI? Many times when an owner installs a CAI they opt to leave the bypass open to atmosphere and do not reroute back into the intake tract. I have a JLT CAI on my wife's '16 Ecoboost and at part throttle you can hear a steady "hiss" of excess boost being vented.

As for that stereo... Was that on the 2018? Reason I ask is it doesn't look like any entertainment system I've seen in a newer Mustang. Looks aftermarket.

Everything under the hood on the 16' looked completely stock. I don't think they put any kind of intake in there. I'm not familiar with the Ecoboost setup so I don't know if they disconnected the line that feeds excess boost back into the system (bpv). I know how my Veloster turbo sounds with the line dicsonnected and I would say it's probably all hooked up.

That funky stereo was in the used 16' we test drove. We described the stereo to another dealership and they thought maybe it was an option on the premium or something. My wife managed a cell phone retail store and said the touch screen is essentially a tablet in the dash. The buttons look like the same buttons you'de have at the bottom of your Android phone or tablet. It had mustang software that booted up. They removed the physical volume buttons to make room for that monstrosity. Here's another veiw of it.

Not sure what to tell you about the sound you were hearing and I'm pretty sure that stereo is not from Ford!

Hey Uncle, did some more searching and found that stereo. https://www.seicane.com/inch-android...-video-s085702

Feels like Chinese junk that's just gonna cost us money in the future. Wife and I are staying away from that car.
