Ford Halting production of the Ford Mustang @ Michigan

Ford Motor Co. is halting production of many of its small
cars
at a Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne until the midnight shift on Feb. 9, according to the automaker's information hotline.

The automaker's Flat Rock Assembly Plant, which produces the Ford Mustang and Fusion sedan, is closed Monday and possibly longer because of an unspecified weather-related issue, a United
Auto
Workers official said via text message Monday morning.

“Ford's Flat Rock Assembly and Michigan Assembly Plants are experiencing some down time the week of February 3 for weather-related parts shortages,” Ford spokeswoman Kristina Adamski said in an emailed statement.
Michigan Assembly previously took two weeks off last fall to adjust bloated inventory levels of the Focus, Focus ST, C-Max Hybrid, C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid and Focus Electric cars.

What sort of weather would halt production?

There has been pretty terrible winter storms in the US going down as far as Georgia even. SO if any parts are coming from that far south there would be delays. People couldn't move at all on the highway. Nothing was getting out of there. That's the only thing I can think of.

well another part of the "weather" discussion is that pretty much all automakers are blaming weather for their poor january sales, so "weather" related could mean dealer inventories have sky rocketed...

I've never heard of weather shutting down a plant that runs indoors though... Is the snow getting inside the plant or something? Or people not able to get to work?
