First 2015 Ford Mustang to be sold early next month

The first all-new Ford Mustang will be sold early next month, at least six months before it rolls off the production line.
Ford will auction the first of the sixth-generation Mustang at the annual Barrett Jackson auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 18, promising its owner will be able to customise the V8-powered GT to their personal liking. The vehicle will also be signed by the engineering and design team that helped developed the Mustang with all proceeds going to Ford’s official charity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
While Ford has yet to confirm official pricing for the new pony car, the first Mustang will be passed over the block with no reserve and is expected to sell with a six-figure pricetag, judging by previous auction results for first, or last, new cars.
Ford auctioned the final Shelby Mustang GT500 last year for US$500,000 while the first of the latest-generation Chevrolet Corvette was bought by NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick for US$1.1 million.

“Ford Mustangs have always been among the most popular collector cars at Barrett-Jackson Collector Car events,” says Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “While every collector wishes they had snapped up the first Mustang sold in 1964, this is an opportunity to realize that dream in a different way.”

It sold for $300,000 which isn't as much as I was expecting. My guess was at least $500,000. But even at $300,000, it will definitely make it to the books.
